Special Olympics

Special Olympics transforms lives through the joy of sport, every day, everywhere.

Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities: with more than 4.7 million athletes in 169 countries -- and over a million volunteers.

Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Their athletes find joy, confidence and fulfillment -- on the playing field and in life. They also inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.

Jennifer Gross’s first volunteer experience at age 16 was coaching a soccer team of intellectually disabled children. Inspired, in part, by that experience, she translated her deep love for gymnastics into volunteering as a gymnastics judge for Special Olympics in 2011.

Jenn cites one experience in particular as a highlight of her judging days: One of the gymnasts she had judged designed the logo for the 2014 World Special Olympics held in Los Angeles. The young woman was so proud to show Jenn the work that she had done.

Blue Chip Foundation began supporting Special Olympics and their mission in 2013.

Special Olympics’s work aligns with the following UN Sustainable Development Goals :

10.2 By 2030, empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion of all, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status
