Rural families in Iraq benefit from mobile cash-transfer technology

Mobile money rebuilds infrastructure for sustainable agriculture

 

The  United Nations Agriculture   agency  introduced a mobile cash-transfer service, a cash-for- work program to enhance agriculture infrastructure development by facilitating job opportunities for vulnerable and displaced peoples in rural areas of Iraq. In rural areas exposed to conflict, difficulty in finding jobs is especially high. The program is designed to support farming infrastructure and strengthen food security for approximately 12 million Iraqis. Participants will include families subjected to conflict or displacement caused by violence. Women and disabled people with no other source of income will benefit from access to these jobs.
